COVID-19 TRAVEL TO ITALY: New rules from April 1st 2022

Until 30 APRIL 2022, the following rules remain in force for travel to Italy:

  • PASSENGER LOCATOR FORM to the carrier at the time of boarding, and to anyone in charge of carrying out checks, by displaying their mobile device or paper proof.
  • Proof of vaccination or recovery within 6 months or a  negative antigen / pcr test (antigen done 24 hours before ore PCR done 48 hours before)

Regulation while in Italy.

Starting from 1st of April 2022, the new rules for the containment of Covid 19 will apply. In many places you can enter without a green pass (digital covid cert), in others you will only need the basic one (antigen test or PCR test).

The rules for the isolation of those who are positive do not change: 7 days if you are vaccinated, 10 if you are not immunized or if the last dose was taken for more than 120 days.

Instead, the quarantine for those who have had close contact with infected people changes: self-surveillance, "with the obligation to wear Ffp2, indoors or in the presence of gatherings, until the 10th day following the date of the last close contact" applies to those who are vaccinated and for those who are not. Healthcare professionals must perform an antigen or molecular test for 5 days from the last contact with a positive.

From 1st to 30th April the reinforced green pass - which is obtained if you are vaccinated with three doses, with two doses of less than 120 days, or if you are recovered - will be mandatory for:
- indoor swimming pools, swimming centers, gyms, team and contact sports, wellness centers (also within accommodation facilities)
- changing rooms and showers
- conferences and congresses
- indoor cultural, social and recreational centers
- holidays, including those after the ceremonies
- gaming rooms, betting rooms, bingo halls and casinos
- dance halls and discos
- cinemas, theaters, sports halls
- health facilities
Green certification will no longer be required from 1 May.

From 1st to 30th April the basic green pass, which is obtained with a vaccination or recovery certificate, or with an antigen test (valid for 48 hours) or PCR (valid for 72 hours) swab will be mandatory to access:

- indoor bars and restaurants
- public competitions, public and private training courses
- interviews in prison
- outdoor shows
- stages
- planes
- trains
- ships and ferries
- tourist buses or coaches that make connections between regions.
From May 1st, green certification will no longer be required for any of these places.

In all indoor places from April 1st to 30th a surgical mask is mandatory.
In disco the mask can be removed at the time of the dance.
In bars and restaurants it must be worn when not at the table.

In the following places it is mandatory to wear the Ffp2:
- planes
- ships and ferries used for interregional transport services
- trains
- tourist buses or for the connection of different regions
- buses, subways, trams, school buses
- cable cars, gondola lifts and chairlifts with a windscreen dome
- cinemas, theaters, concert halls, sports competitions within the sports halls.

From 1 April it will be possible to stay in hotels and other structures without having a green pass.
Customers staying in hotels and facilities can access bars and restaurants, gyms and swimming pools, wellness centers without the basic green pass.
Those who do not stay in hotels and facilities must instead show the basic green pass for all the services found inside.
Access will also be free to:
- shops
