{"id":205,"date":"2023-04-11T18:17:44","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T16:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambdublino.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/emergency-travel-documents-etd\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T15:28:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:28:06","slug":"emergency-travel-documents-etd","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambdublino.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/emergency-travel-documents-etd\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Emergency Travel Document (ETD)<\/strong> is a temporary travel document valid up to 15 days from the date of issue.<\/p>\n<p>It can be issued in the event of theft or loss of a passport or identity card and used only for the return to Italy or to the EU member state in which the applicant has permanent residence proven by the AIRE registration.<\/p>\n<p>The presence of the applicant is required (infants and minors included).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Documentation required for issuing an ETD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application for Adults:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 One recent passport-size photograph (taken within the last 6 months), compliant with international ICAO standards;<br data-start=\"116\" data-end=\"119\" \/>\u2022 In the event of loss or theft of the document, a copy of the report filed with An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na;<br data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"221\" \/>\u2022 A copy of an identification document, even if lost or damaged (identity card or passport), containing a photograph and signature. A valid driving licence is also accepted as proof of identity;<br data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"418\" \/>\u2022 If no identification document is available, the presence of a witness with valid identification is required, who can identify the applicant under their own responsibility;<br data-start=\"591\" data-end=\"594\" \/>\u2022 A copy of the travel document\/ticket showing a departure date within 15 days of the ETD application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications for Minors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 One recent passport-size photograph (taken within the last 6 months), compliant with international ICAO standards;<br data-start=\"116\" data-end=\"119\" \/>\u2022 In the event of loss or theft of the document, a copy of the report filed with An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na;<br data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"221\" \/>\u2022 A photo ID with signature of both parents, or of the accompanying adult and one parent in the case of accompanied minors;<br data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"347\" \/>\u2022 If no identification document is available, the presence of an adult witness with valid ID is required, who can identify the applicant under their own responsibility;<br data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"518\" \/>\u2022 A copy of the travel document\/ticket showing a departure date within 15 days of the ETD application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is a temporary travel document valid up to 15 days from the date of issue.
