The service is free and is reserved for private citizens over the age of 18, <strong>exclusively resident in the Republic of Ireland.<\/strong><br \/>\nFor Northern Ireland residents please contact the Consulate General of Italy for Scotland and Northern Ireland in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>If you are moving to Italy in less then 30 days, you will need to ask the Tax code to the competent office of the Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate).<\/p>\n<p>Requests for minors, or on behalf of third parties, or by the heir for a deceased family member must contain additional documents.<\/p>\n<p>Companies must request the tax code in Italy at the office of the Revenue Agency competent for the territory in the place of registration\/headquarters of the Company\/Company in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>You can request the release of an Italian tax code, if you have never had one before, or a certification of the existing one, for example for access to digital identity services.<\/p>\n<p>The tax code does not expire and does not change due to a transfer abroad.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Please note that we issue plastic cards only for specific reasons.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><u>FOREIGN CITIZENS WHO ARE NOT RESIDENT IN ITALY<\/u><\/p>\n<p>A foreign citizen who is not resident in Italy must specifically <strong>delegate<\/strong> a person to submit the application form for the Codice Fiscale (fiscal\/tax code) directly to the offices of the Agenzia delle Entrate located on Italian territory according to art. 1 of the implementing Ministerial Decree dated 17 maggio 2001, n. 281.<\/p>\n<p>The addresses of the offices of the Agenzia delle Entrate are available on the website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agenziaentrate.it\">www.agenziaentrate.it<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Students <\/strong>who require a Codice Fiscale for university pre-registration may obtain it automatically on the portal:\u00a0 UNIVERSITALY when they are making their pre-registration request.<\/p>\n<p>The allocation of the Codice Fiscale will be completed: for non EU students at the Sportello Unico dell\u2019Immigrazione or by the Questura when a residence permit is being requested; for EU students at the Agenzia delle Entrate, by submitting the form AA4\/8.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign citizens who require a Codice Fiscale <strong>to purchase a property or for other commercial\/financial activities in Italy<\/strong> may delegate a representative to request the Codice Fiscale from the Agenzia delle Entrate on their behalf.<\/p>\n<p>The Codice Fiscale is attributed to <strong>citizens of non EU Countries<\/strong> who wish to stay in Italy:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; by the Sportello unico per l\u2019Immigrazione, located in every Prefettura which is competent to issue a nulla osta for the entry of foreign citizens who request a residence permit for dependent work or in the case of family reunion;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; by the Questura, office of the State Police, for foreign citizens who request other types of residence permits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EU citizens<\/strong> who intend to stay in Italy may request the Codice Fiscale by submitting the form AA4\/8 to a territorial office of the Agenzia delle Entrate.\u00a0 The request must be motivated and accompanied by a valid identity document (passport or identity card valid for expatriation)<\/p>\n<p>Foreign citizens who require the Codice Fiscale <strong>for reasons of judicial proceedings in Italy<\/strong> may delegate their appointed solicitor to request for a Codice Fiscale at any office of the Agenzia delle Entrate; the addresses of the offices of the Agenzia delle Entrate are available on the website \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.agenziaentrate.it\">www.agenziaentrate.it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They must complete the required form, must include a copy of the required documents and <strong>specify the reason for the request.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I apply for a Codice Fiscale?<\/strong><br \/>\nForeign citizens resident in Ireland may request a Codice Fiscale from <strong>this Embassy<\/strong> <u>only if the Codice Fiscale is required for online procedures<\/u> and\/or if the foreigner in question is unable to delegate a person to request it from the Agenzia delle Entrate. They can apply by providing the following:<\/p>\n<p>-Application form duly filled and signed with pen: <a href=\"https:\/\/ambdublino.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/application-form-tax-code-english.pdf\">application-form-tax-code-english<\/a><\/p>\n<p>-Copy of a valid identity document, including the page with the photo and the signature.<\/p>\n<p>-E-mail address and Irish phone number<\/p>\n<p>-Copy of your birth certificate (translated to English or Italian if needed)<\/p>\n<p>-Proof of address in the Republic of Ireland<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Reasons for the request shall be provided (e.g.: student, work, business, purchase\/rent a property)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application must be completed in all its parts, paying particular attention that the details (name, surname, date and place of birth) exactly match those in the passport\/ID.
