The Ambassador of Italy to Ireland, H.E. Nicola Faganello, attended on 18 June at the European headquarters of LinkedIn in Dublin the opening session of the second edition of the Open Mind Tour, organised by Confindustria Bergamo in collaboration with Confindustria Varese and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro.

The initiative brought together over 30 Italian business leaders representing sectors ranging from manufacturing to automation, energy, infrastructure, packaging, technology, consulting and innovation, for a discussion on artificial intelligence, technological innovation and the transformation of business models, with particular focus on the opportunities offered by the Irish ecosystem, one of the most dynamic and innovative global hubs in these fields.

In his brief remarks, the Ambassador highlighted how the growing interest of Italian companies in Ireland – also confirmed by this new edition of the Open Mind Tour fits – within a framework of continuously expanding and increasingly dynamic bilateral relations, grounded in strong economic and cultural complementarity, shared values, and a sustained dialogue between institutions, businesses, universities and research centres.

The event also confirmed the value of the joint action of the Italian System in Ireland, including the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, represented by its President Furio Pietribiasi, and the ITA London Desk operating within the Embassy in Dublin, in promoting economic dialogue between the two countries and supporting Italian companies in seizing the opportunities offered by the Irish market. This has been further demonstrated by recent initiatives such as the first Irish edition of the SMAU Innovation Safari held in March, and Italy’s participation in May at the Dublin Tech Summit, where the Italian Trade Agency organised a national pavilion hosting a delegation of 14 innovative Italian start-ups and SMEs.
