On the occasion of the Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026, the international summit dedicated to sustainable innovation and the bioeconomy held in Dublin from 19 to 22 October, Italian industrial excellence joined forces with the strategic support of the institutions present in the country through two days of high-level institutional meetings.

At the centre of the meetings was Novamont (ENI Group), an industrial company that is an international leader in the development and production of compostable bioplastics and biochemicals obtained from renewable sources.

During the first day of the Summit, Dr Mirella Senatore participated, representing the Embassy of Italy in Dublin, in the plenary session, which featured among its keynote speakers Catia Bastioli, CEO of Novamont, who highlighted, among other things, the solid contribution of Italian innovation to the development of sustainable solutions and its potential at European level to generate industrial development and value for local areas, through a systemic approach to the circular bioeconomy.

The dialogue and support of the “Sistema Paese” continued during the second day. Ambassador Nicola Faganello, together with Francesco Montana Paladini, Head of the Dublin Desk of ICE Agenzia-Italian Trade Agency, met with Franz Kraus, Head of International Public Affairs at Novamont. The visit underscored the concrete commitment of diplomatic and trade institutions to supporting the leadership of Italian companies, promoting internationalisation linked to the ecological transition.

On the same occasion, the Italian delegation met with Nicolò Giacomuzzi-Moore, Executive Director of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). The discussion made it possible to explore in greater depth the activities of the CBE JU, a public-private partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium, whose objective is to fund projects to advance circular and sustainable biomass-based industries, making a significant contribution to European climate and environmental objectives.
