From the 11th to the 17th of March 2024 Ireland will celebrate the VIII edition of the Italian Design Day in the World.
This year’s theme is “Manufacturing value – inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability” and the week will focus on celebrating Italian design excellence and promoting Italian design in Ireland, as well as emphasising the manufacturing process that leads to the creation of beautifully designed, high quality, and valuable Italian design pieces.
To celebrate this year’s Italian Design Day, the Embassy of Italy, along with the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Institute of Culture, and the Italian National Tourism Board, welcome renowned Italian architect, prof. Matteo Vercelloni, to Dublin to open the week with two special events.
The first event is a B2B event with a keynote speech from Mr. Vercelloni on “The poetic response of the Italian Design to sustainability”, followed by a panel discussion with key Italian and Irish designers.
The testimonial of the Italian Design Day in Ireland, prof. Vercelloni, will also participate to a special dinner in the presence of the Italian Ambassador H.E. Ruggero Corrias, to welcome the private sector and media to promote Italian design in Ireland.
The rest of the week will see local importers of Italian design host a series of consumer events providing opportunities for design lovers to immerse themselves in Italian design excellence. Attendees can explore curated exhibitions and engage with leading brands at various locations across Ireland.
Among the various initiatives, on Tuesday, 12th March in the afternoon, the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin will host a presentation of “Breve storia del Design Italiano” by Mr Matteo Vercelloni at 6.30 PM. This enlightening session, in Italian language only, will explore the rich history and evolution of Italian design, offering attendees a deeper understanding of its cultural significance.
