REQUESTS FOR CERTIFICATION OF TRANSLATION
ITALIAN/ENGLISH OR ENGLISH/ITALIAN
INFORMATION
1) SUBMITTING THE REQUEST
a. Required documentation to submit the request:
- Application form (FORM DUB-TC/1),
- Copy of a valid ID document of the applicant: passport / ID card (front/back)
- Original/copy of the document for which certification of translation is requested
- Translation of the document into English/Italian (prepared by the applicant)
SPECIAL CASES:
For the following documents, applicants may prepare translations using the guided translations available on the website:- Criminal Record Certificate (“Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale”) and Pending Charges Certificate
- Technical Sheet of an Italian Driving Licence (“Scheda Tecnica della Patente”)
COMPETENT AUTHORITIES FOR ISSUING THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS
- Certification of translation into English of a Criminal Record Certificate or Pending Charges Certificate:
Contact directly the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Casellario Office) at any Italian Court. - Certification of translation into English of a Driving Licence Technical Sheet:
Contact directly the Italian Motor Vehicle Authority (Motorizzazione Civile).
Methods for submitting the request
(with all required documents attached):

- In person during public opening hours (no appointment required)
- By regular post to:
Embassy of Italy in Dublin, Consular Chancery, 63-65 Northumberland Road, Dublin 4
2) COLLECTION OF THE CERTIFIED TRANSLATIONAfter checking the request and approving the submitted translation, the applicant will receive a confirmation email containing instructions and the fee amount for collecting the certified translation.
a. Cost / Payment
The total cost of the requested certification depends on the number of original pages (front/back) and the language of the original document:
- €13.00 per page translated from English into Italian
- €20.00 per page translated from Italian into English
b. Required documentation to collect the certified translation at the consular desk:
- Confirmation email received from the consular officer
- Copy of a valid ID document of the applicant (passport/ID card – front/back)
- Original document for which certification is requested
- Translation approved by the consular officer
- Required fee for certification
Collection must take place in person at the consular desk, during normal public opening hours (no appointment needed), by the applicant or by a delegated third person.
A delegated person must present:fully completed, dated, and signed by the applicant- A hand-signed written authorization, and
- A copy of the delegating person’s ID
